Stone Mountain, Georgia - day 1
Starting a loop of Georgia "must-see" camping sites

After visiting both my parents and my wife's mom, we set off on a loop of sites that are included on a list of "must-see" Georgia RV campgrounds. We left Savannah and traveled to the first such site, Stone Mountain Park Campground. Since we are visiting in February, crowds are non-existent. Although the "attractions" are closed (the lift to the top of Stone Mountain, the train, the historic village), the ability to move freely around the park and the lack of crowds have made this a really enjoyable trip. The weather has cooperated nicely - although it has dropped to temperatures between the lower 30s to lower 20s, the days are mostly in the 50s. We have had no rain, snow or ice.
We spent the first day at Stone Mountain driving around the park and familiaring ourselves with the area. These are photos taken on day 1 here in the Park:
